Oblate Sisters of Providence, A Pictorial History.

In this photo are Sister Elaine Frederick (then called Sr. Jonathan), Sister Anthony Garnier and the late Sister Augustine Greene (side view of veil).  Along with Fr. Obenrader and some of the mothers, they are helping students at Christ the King School in Sharon, PA, open gifts after the 1954 Christmas pageant.  The Oblate Sisters were missioned there for six years.

Sisters Michael Huff, Leo Turner and Theresa Messonier are shown at the Page Avenue orphanage in St. Louis, circa 1894.  The orphanage grew so much that this property was sold after 11 years and the Sisters moved their charges to Normandy.  St. Frances Home for Girls operated as an orphanage until 1967, when it became a day care center.  The Oblate presence in Missouri ended completely in 1993, when the Center was closed and the property sold.

This picture shows Sister Stephen Beaufort, OSP, preparing students for a Christmas play in 1962 at St. Pius V School in Baltimore, MD.  Our sisters were the mission at St. Pius in 1931, when it was called St. Catherine’s Academy.  The name was changed in 1947.  St. Pius V School was closed in 1981.
